Taha Shafique: A Collection Worth Noting

Brampton auto mechanic and business owner Taha Shafique works to provide his customers the best experience possible.  Well-versed in the numerous facets of auto repair and maintenance, and experienced in the rebuilding and repair of countless years, makes and models, Shafique looks to deliver quality services that best fit within each customer’s budget, and to ensure his work lasts for as long as possible.

It is Taha Shafique’s love of cars that drives him to succeed, and to ensure each customer gets his best each and every day. This passion for the automobile, however, also fuels the love and care he puts into his vintage toy car collection, which now consists of more than 500 vintage autos.

“I go to shows occasionally, and sometimes a car will grab my eye on the Internet,” says Shafique. “I’ve been collecting unusual toys since I was a kid, and it really hasn’t stopped.”

Primarily made up of tin and diecast cars, Shafique’s collection has long been the envy of friends and family members alike. With toy racecars of all shapes and sizes, and some even made long before he was born, Shafique hopes to continue adding to his collection well into the future.

“It’s quite a thrill finding something I don’t have,” says Taha Shafique. “I’m always surprised by what I don’t know and have.”

Taha Shafique: Carrying On the Family Legacy

Brampton-area mechanic Taha Shafique has been fixing up old cars and trucks for much of his life, having developed a knack for “wrenching” at a very early age. The opportunity to watch his father tear down and rebuild old Buicks, Chevrolets and Dodge pickups out of an old dirt-road gas station as a young child instilled an undeniable passion within Shafique, one that persists to this day.

“Just seeing how much the old man loved turning wrenches and fixing problems on those old cars, those, uh, what should have been dead-for-good beaters, and doing so always with a smile on his face, well, that really stuck with me,” says Taha Shafique. “I guess that’s where my love of it really comes from.”

Shafique has quickly earned the reputation as one of the area’s most gifted “wrenchers,” attracting business from throughout Greater Toronto. Running a small fix-n-lube operation from behind his home, he continues to attract business from customers throughout the Greater Toronto Area, particularly from those who had all but given up hope on machines they once believed to be “dead-for-good.”

“Word is out, I guess,” says Taha Shafique, who often has trouble keeping up with demand for his unique expertise. “I just gotta way with these ol’ tankers…you know, those rust jobs no one else will bother with. I suppose that’s the old man’s spirit carrying on in some way.”

Taha Shafique: A Lifelong Passion

Taha Shafique enjoys nothing more than tooling around on an old, beat-up clunker. He likes it so much, in fact, that he’s devoted much of his life, and his career, to doing just that.

“It’s not just buddies or family that bring their cars in for a look,” says Shafique, who operates his own auto repair shop just behind his Brampton, Ontario home. “I see cars and trucks from customers all over the province. The word really got out fast.”

An auto mechanic for much of his life, Taha Shafique primarily focuses on basic repairs and maintenance, and sees much the same variety of car makes and models as most others in the area. It’s his penchant for the “old beaters,” however, that really set him and his business apart from day one; something that continues to make his modest two-port repair operation a truly unique repair destination.

“I get a kick out of the really torn up, rusty jobs, ya know. Those cars that the other guys have pretty much thrown up their hands at a long time ago,” says Shafique. “I just enjoy getting my hands dirty…Nothing feels as good as turning one of those old rust buckets into something special.”

A man immersed in grease, steering rods and rusted-out exhaust systems, Taha Shafique continues to make a name for himself as the Brampton mechanic who not only tackles the toughest jobs, but who takes them on with a passion that is undeniable.

Taha Shafique : A Misunderstood Profession

Taha Shafique is a professional auto mechanic who has been working on cars and trucks for most of his life. He began by helping his father work on his car as a child, and his interest and skill level grew from there.

His workplace is a garage located behind his house in Brampton, Ontario, and he says that he is fortunate that he is able to bring in business not only from the immediate area, but from all over the Greater Toronto Area. This is due to his reputation as a fine mechanic and a fair businessman.

“I think being a mechanic is a misunderstood job, and even a disrespected one,” he says. “It’s an expensive business to run. These tools aren’t cheap.” He waved his arm around to indicate the array of equipment in his garage. “I make a pretty good living now, and with luck it will always be this way. But nobody gets rich from being an auto mechanic.”

In spite of all this, Taha Shafique says that he has always loves cars and always will, and that the automobile may well be the greatest invention of all time.

Canoeing with Taha SHAFIQUE

When twenty-three-year-old mechanic Taha SHAFIQUE is not working on cars, one of his favorite pastimes is canoeing. He has been practicing this activity for a while and has even entered and won canoe races around his home of Brampton, Ontario. Canoeing is often done with more than one individual and makes use of a single bladed paddle or oar that is used to row the canoe.

There are many places around Brampton that one can go canoe even if you are not experienced on the water. One such location is Professor’s Lake. This lake is spring fed and sprawls a whopping 65 acres. It offers a beach, swimming area, and even a water slide. This location also has rentals of all kinds including kayaks, sitting and standing paddleboards, and you guessed it, canoes.

If you want to enjoy your time canoeing, it is recommended to have two or more individuals. It can become tough for one person to row a larger canoe. So if you plan to go it alone, a kayak may be better suited to your plans.

Taha SHAFIQUE knows that another great spot for canoeing near Brampton is on the Credit River. However, canoeing on this or any river can be quite different from a lake. This location is recommended for experienced canoers. However, if you feel your skills are up to par, you may have a great time navigating the waters of the Credit River. There are even public stops along the way that offer areas for picnicking, hiking, and fishing.
